5 Stars Great Backpack!
I bought this backpack from Amazon almost a year ago. I’ve since used it many times, and have nothing but praise for both it’s design and ease of use. I can fit my digital SLR, three lenses, my small digital camcorder, and there’s even room for my wallet and cell phone! It’s very roomy! Of course, the more you carry the heavier the bag gets…but still it is so well designed that it feels like you are hardly carrying anything at all. And the best feature (in my opinion) – it only opens from the back, so you don’t have to be worried about anyone unzipping and stealing any of your expensive camera equipment
I can’t recommend this backpack enough!
5 Stars Found my bag!
I’ve tried Lowepro Slingshot AW100, it was perfect until i realized i was going to outgrow it and started to dislike the sling. Then got Fastpack 250 with the cool idea of bringing my laptop with my camera gears until i realized it was too big and heavy for day to day shooting. Both bags are very good just didn’t fit my day to day shooting situations. So, i figured, i should get something in the middle in terms of size, fit my current gears with room to grow and wanted a backpack, thats when i started to look at Flipside 300. The ability to carry a tripod was a big plus as well. It can fit my D90 with 70-300 with hood inside comfortably and still have room for my 18-105 zoom and still have rooms for 2 more lenses (prime and maybe a wide angle lens) and external flash. The bag is comfortable to wear and it feels really light on my back and the ‘flip mode’ as they call it works. I just snap the waist strap, take off the bag ang slide to the front. I was sceptical at first about this feature because i really liked the quick side access the Slingshots and Fastpacks allowed me, but with the Flipside i still can access my gears easily although not as quick. When in flipmode, i sort of have a platform to which i can access my gears and easily change lenses as well. I really like this bag and will be using this for a long time. The only downside is that whenever i see the empty slots, it makes me want to get and buy those gears right away to fill those gaps.
5 Stars SLR Bag
This is a very good bag. It will be better if they made it larger. But it is still a good product.
4 Stars Good Bang for the Buck
I have found this bag fits most of my field photography needs. The particular attraction was the ability to hold my Canon 450D with Sigma 150-500 attached, room for a 24-70 lens, 430 flash, and the miscellaneous camera gear that goes with me. I bought this item locally rather than via Amazon as camera bags are one of those items (I think) you should not buy sight unseen. Camera bags have to be tested and decided by the user personally – user needs are unique as the bags.
I demanded several criteria in a camera bag:
1. No more than $100 cost (it’s a padded BAG!)
2. Capacity for 450D body, battery grip, 150-500 lens attached, short lens (24-70), miscellaneous smaller gear
3. Comfortable (naturally)
4. Overall bag size should not be larger than a student’s book bag.
Optional preferences:
A. Tether for monopod/tripod
B. Preferably a sling bag to access equipment without having to take off the pack
C. Theft resistant
D. Room for a water bottle, umbrella, keys, and other personal items.
I tried and considered several items including the Tenba Shootout Medium Sling Bag, Lowepro Slingshot 100/200 (300 is hard to find in stock locally), Lowepro Fastpack 200, Canon 200EG. Surprisingly, all of these bags are too small to handle a 500mm w/ body attached. I also have a military fabric messenger bag I used prior to the 150-500 (custom added padding, dividers) but that became obsolete with the new lens. All of these bags had great features and would have worked wonderfully – if you don’t have a large 400mm+ lens w/ body attached.
I effectively had to forget about the side loading sling bags – they can hold a larger lens by itself but not with the camera body. Surprisingly, the Tenba Shootout sling bag did allow top-of-bag access to my setup but it was very unwieldy to remove the camera & lens (side access definitely a no-go). The camera & lens caught on the bag zipper area a lot – that’s just asking for a dropped camera. The Fastpack was impressive but since the upper compartment is separate from the lower half that limits the ability to carry larger items (such as body+large lens). I did not have an opportunity to test the larger slingshot (300?).
The Flipside was not a first choice but it serves my needs adequately. Excellent padding, straps, and the typical complement of the Velcro dividers. The bag holds my body+500mm lens combo very well although it is not accessible without putting the bag down – very roomy inside for its size. The particular impressive aspect is a Velcro-attached zippered bag in the interior – as a mundane item I geniunely appreciate not having to search 10 different pockets for certain items. The bag is also secure as you can only open the main compartment from the part that rests against your back.
However, the bag is not without fault. Several aspects I dislike:
I. Limited external pockets for storage. The external storage aspects of the bag are very lacking.
II. Some bags come with rain cover but this does not. The bag *is* rain resistant (sealing zippers) but not a sub for a cover.
III. Bag can certainly hold a monopod but a tripod might be somewhat questionable without buying an additional tether
I rated this bag 4 out of 5 stars. I give the bag a generous rating for obvious solid construction, versatility, excellent value (as far as camera bags are concerned), comfort, and standing true to its advertising – ability to carry a large lens/body combo. I docked the bag primarily due to the lack of extra pockets. I will not dock the bag rating for size as this is just a matter of proper bag selection (space efficiency is a different story).
I regret that I have yet to encounter a bag with quick access to a body+large lens combo.
4 Stars Good bag
Just bought a new camera (Canon 50D) and 2 new lenses ( Canon 28-135mm IS and Sigma 17-35mm) plus a 430EX II Speedlite and needed a bag to hold it all. Looked at a lot of bags at Best Buy and local camera stores. The 300 was, by far, the largest and best made bag for the money and large enough to hold all of my equipment, including 2 additional lenses (Sigma 28-70mm and 70-300 mm) in addition to 4 camera batteries, 10 CF cards, a battery charger, spare batteries for the Speedlite, a bag of filters, plus my camera and lens reference books. It’a load to carry around, but the straps are comfortable and and the padding is substantial enough that I ‘m not afraid of having my equipment damaged when I take it off and lay it down.
The bag opens from the back( the side that is against your back when wearing the bag as a pack). It is fairly convenient to get stuff in and out of if you put it down first, although it is somewhat awkward to use when slipping out of one of the straps, swinging the bag forward and trying to access the contents, as advertised. It can be done but isn’t easy. I guess the best aspect of this design is the security – no one can get to the contents while you are wearing it.
It does have a convenient handle for carrying and hoisting it into a luggage comparment. I’m very happy with it so far, (2 months).

The Opteka LP-E5 rechargeable lithium-ion 1800mAh battery is a replacement for replacement for Opteka LP-E5. It features lithium technology, which ensures maximum battery life and maximum power. It also features no memory effect that lets you recharge partially drained batteries without reducing performance.

5 Stars Better than I expected
Been using this battery now for over 3 months with my T1i.
Holds its charge a looong time. I haven’t timed it, but it feels at least twice as long as the standard battery.
…and you can’t beat the price.
Advice: if you’re looking to get an extra battery, get this one.
5 Stars Works just fine – excellent value
Having a new camera for taking pictures of museum artifacts (primarily), I needed spare batteries to “feed my flash.” Problem was that the OEM battery (Canon) was ~$70 USD each which would reduce the number of spares I could pack. Also, the OEM charger was AC only, so would not allow for recharging while in transit. Opteka to the rescue! Inexpensive batteries and a dual AC & DC charger fit my needs exactly. I used the batteries for all day shooting of museum aircraft (lots of flash usage) and they performed at least as well as the OEM battery. Recharging was quick also, being less than 90 minutes in the car, so I could always have charged batteries on hand. Excellent value and performance overall, highly recommended for the amateur photog, perhaps even for the pro. Didn’t try the Opteka batteries in the Canon wall-charger as I was the Opteka charger, so cannot comment on capability. I recommend the charger & battery combination anyway because of the DC car plug.
1 Star The marked voltage worries me a great deal
The Canon Xsi ships with, and is rated for, a 7.4v battery. This is listed as 7.2v on the box, the battery and on the Opteka website. I was told by a Marketplace Vendor that the 7.2v is a “misprint,” but there is no way of truly knowing and it’s enough to make me worry. I’d hate to damage a $$$$ camera over a $ battery. This one is going in the garbage and I’m going with the Canon Equivalent LP-E5 Battery which is marked with the correct information (7.4v!), has a solid reputation, and is currently selling for a better-than-amazon price on Diamondback Battery’s website.
2 Stars got what you paid for
Fully charged it after some use of it already and seems as if it has the memory effect. The XSi camera’s battery icon shows it has at least half of the juice left before the camera stops working. Well, you trade 1/2 of the battery capacity for 3/4 of the cost. A good deal? In the shooting field, you may have twice the chance to have to change the battery at that monemt you wish you were not, like I was. Not sure if other 3rd party batteries more or less the same issue…..
5 Stars Decent for the money
Not as good as Canon, but for the money this will work great for a backup battery! I would say it lasts about 75% as long, and have not had any problems with it.

5 Stars New Amazing Product for Best Available Price
Bought for my wife’s Birthday (professional photographer), she loves it over the overpriced, under performing, Nikon that she was using in her 1 year professional photography program. Camera, lens and all accessories are high quality and in perfect condition, never been out of box, packaged excellently and arrived almost 2 weeks before the beginning of the estimated shipping time frame. Amazing deal especially considering that I had to cancel my order from a mainstream photography equipment company who said it was out of stock for over 2 months, and is now charging almost $400 more than Amazon.com for the same exact thing, even though it still says out-of-stock.
5 Stars How to make your wife happy.
I don’t know much about photography so you may want to pan this review but my wife loves taking pictures. Her rebel was acting up so we bought this beauty. Although a little costly it was worth it to see how excited my wife was when she got it.
2 Stars You get what you pay for
I have a Canon 1DIII, and was looking for a more compact second body. I was not happy with the prospect of either the 50D or 5DII but decided to give the 50D a try first. It’s not that it’s such a bad camera, it’s just leagues away from the 1 series, and in my opinion, leagues away from the Nikon D300. Why do I say this?
First, it’s not at all weatherized, which does matter to me as I do mostly outdoor shooting, and there are competing products from Nikon, Pentax, Sony, that are pretty well weatherproof.
Second, the viewfinder is small and dark, and there’s only 9 AF points, compared to 50 something in the Nikon D300, and at least 11 in most other cameras. I don’t need 50 points, but the little rhomboid pattern in the Canon amateur and prosumer lines is really sub-par for the industry.
Third, there’s more pixels, but then there’s also more noise, and fewer pixels would have been just fine, along with less noise. What good does ISO 12800 do, when the pic is unusable?
In summary, Canon has been resting on their laurels, made mainly cosmetic improvements in each iteration since their 20D came out, and I sold the camera a month after I bought it at a substantial loss on ebay. Good riddance, money can be recouped.
5 Stars I love this camera.
I had dreamt of buying a good digital camera for a long time. I had been shooting films until now since I could not afford a digital camera that produced the quality I desired.
In short, this camera is worth every penny (in my opinion of course). I totally fell in love with it the day I received it. The picture quality is awesome. The pictures are both sharp and the colors are spectacular. It has all kind of great features but what matters most for me is the picture quality. I already have one of my pictures taken on this camera displayed on a wall in the living room, it is 5.2 feet wide and even despite of the size, the picture quality is good.
5 Stars Completely Satisfied
The Canon 50D is great. I added the Tamron AF18-270mmm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical [IF} Macro (Model Bo003) lens from Amazon to this camera and I am extremely satisfied with their performance together. The quality of my pictures with the new camera and len are significant. I was using a Canon Rebel Xt with a Tamron 18-200 lens.
