Thinking my original battery was getting old, I purchased two of these to have some back-ups. They work great, exactly what I was expecting. Any slow flash response time or overall battery recharge-life is negated by the cheap cost.
5 Stars Inexpensive insurance.
I recently bought two of these as insurance before a 2 week vacation. I figured that even if one was bad and/or couldn’t hold a charge, then I’d still have another if I needed it. As it turns out, both of the Ultralasts that I received are absolutely perfect. I could not tell any difference whatsoever between the battery life of this product versus the genuine Canon that came with my camera. I am unbelievably happy that I got 2 backup NB4L batteries for $7 instead of paying close to $50 for the “real thing.” Even if I only use them while the Canon battery is charging, it’s worth it and I won’t miss a single shot! Highly recommended.
4 Stars Great price, but not the longest life
“You get what you pay for” would would be an appropriate saying for this product. I am thrilled with the low cost and would purchase it again, but do not expect it to last as long as the original equipment. I would guess it lasts about half as long, but for a fraction of the cost I am not dissapointed.

Works just fine in our Canon SD600. Holds a charge and lasts just as long as the OEM battery that came with the camera. Would buy another one but I upgraded to a digital dslr

I bought this for a new Canon T1i and it works great. The car charger is a nice touch. I can’t say that it lasts twice as long as the Canon battery, but it lasts at least as long.

Bought this as an additional battery for my Canon Xsi, the extra charger was just a bonus but a bonus that turned out to be even better then expected, not only is it an AC charger but also comes with the vehicle charger adaptor as well as the universal charger adaptor for over-seas.

Having a new camera for taking pictures of museum artifacts (primarily), I needed spare batteries. Problem was that the OEM battery was ~$70 USD each which would reduce the number of spares I could pack. Also, the OEM charger was AC only, so would not allow for recharging while in transit. Opteka to the rescue! Inexpensive batteries and a dual AC & DC charger fit my needs exactly. I used the batteries for all day shooting of museum aircraft (which means lots of flash usage) and they performed at least as well as the OEM battery. Recharging was quick also, being less than 90 minutes in the car, so I could always have charged batteries on hand. Excellent value and performance overall, highly recommended for the amateur photog, perhaps even for the pro.

Nothing is wrong with this battery except that I probably didn’t need to spend the extra money buying a Canon one. Oh well. I’m sure Energizer or Duracell makes an excellent one for cheaper. Never looked.

This seller is awesome. I bought a battery when it came it was DOA. They had me send it back to them and they sent out a new battery. The new battery works great and I couldn’t be more happy with the service I received from this buyer. Not to mention my battery works great!!!
1 Star Battery is dead
I ordered this battery, went right to Europe for a month and when we got there the battery didn’t work at all. The battery won’t even charge or hold a charge. I’m hoping that the seller will give me a new battery. I’m hoping that this will help me find the right person to talk to about this.

Works just like the OEM battery that came with my Vixia HG20 HD cam. Having the ability for the camera to “talk” to the battery to provide battery information and capacity status is important for me. However, this is pricier than the basic non-OEM battery.
The only thing I did not like about the BP-808 is that it is thinner than the OEM BP-807 so when installed on the cam, it is not flushed with the cam body and doesn’t look as slick.

4 Stars Excellent Battery but very costly
As previous reviewers said, this is the battery that should have come with my Vixia HF10….the standard battery is bullocks….I get at least 2 and a half hours with this. No disappointment here besidse the price.
5 Stars It’s been a great battery for us
We’ve had this battery for several months now and I love it! I highly recommend it. It’s a bit pricey but well worth the investment. I keep the original battery as a back up. My kids’ school choir and band performances get video taped each and every time. There is enough juice in this battery to accomplish this and I seldom, if ever, have to pull out the OEM battery. Regarding charging time length, I usually check my equipment well ahead of the performances I intend to video tape. I make sure I have enough memory cards and the batteries are charged. Charging time hasn’t been an issue whatsoever.

4 Stars Better than Generics – Doesn’t Stick Out
If you use a generic battery your camera will ask you to verify that you want to use it each time it’s turned on. And larger capacity batteries stick out real far from your camera making it more bulky.
Having to verify that I want to use a generic all the time sounds like a hassle to me and negates the quick start feature of my HFS10. So, in spite of the needless price gouging by Canon, I recommend that people stick with Canon branded batteries. You also get the advantage of a battery life indicator that tells you how much usage time you have left.
I also prefer the BP-819 over the BP-827 since the latter is much longer and sticks out from the camera a lot more. The BP-827 gives longer recording times but I don’t care for the trade off of a bigger camera. Between the BP-819 and the original battery that came with my HFS10, I have plenty of recording time and my overall camera size remains compact. And I don’t have to verify the batteries when I turn on my cam — best of all scenarios for my tastes. So if we’re stuck paying through the nose for a Canon battery, why not save a few bucks and go with the 819 0ver the 827? Makes sense to me.
Bottom line — ya, it costs a lot, but you spent a lot on your camera, so don’t get stingy with the battery and bring the performance of your whole camera down along with it. When you’re out in the field shooting (and every time you turn your camera on for that matter) you’ll be glad you got this brand name over any generic.
5 Stars Pretty much essential Vixia accessory — adds about 3 hours of recording time to the hour you get with the standard battery
This battery works great – I didn’t want to take a risk with the off-brand batteries, since I’ve been burned in the past. The advantage of going with Canon is that you get an accurate reading of how long you’ve got to keep filming, and the reading adjusts depending on what you’re doing. For example, if I’m shooting stills the battery reads a longer available time than when I’m capturing video. I like to have a pretty clear idea what to expect, rather than find myself suddenly out of time in the middle of a shoot. Roughly, you get about two and a half to three hours usage on the camera with the BP-819, as compared to about an hour with the BP-809 battery that comes with your camcorder.
Several have suggested that this is the battery that should be standard – maybe so, but I always like to have at least two batteries, and use this as my main power source and the BP-809 as a backup. It’s really worth adding a charger so you can energize one battery while you’re using the other. I know it starts to add up – but I’ve been happy with the two batteries and the charger for most situations I’ve gotten into. (I do have the BP-827 on my wishlist. 4 hours + sounds ideal. One can dream.).
