Canon EW73B Lens Hood for the EF S 17 85 f 4 5 6 IS USM SLR Lens

The addition of a lens hood can help prevent flares–those circles of light that can accompany images where a strong light source is just outside the fame. These type of lens flares occur when indirect light rays pass through the front lens elements but don’t make it all the way through to the image sensor. Canon’s EW-73B Lens Hood is designed for the Canon EF-S 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM SLR Lens.

5 Stars It Worths!
Well, It is just a piece of plastic, right? Not exactly! I bought the third party one from Precision Design which has nothing to do with precision. In fact, it does not fit well on the lens and never locks, I mean, it should lock on the lens when you turn it to the side. Canon charges a lot for its original hood and I definitely think that it should be supplied with the lens! Acting like this, Canon is just playing too much tight. However, I confess that the Canon original lens hood for the 17-85mm lens is of far highest quality than the one from Precision design that I bought. I regret to have bought this third party hood. The Canon one fits perfectly on the lens and has a nice velvet coat inside that I think is intended to protect the lens against scratches. My advice? Well, Pay more and get the one from Canon. It worths!
5 Stars Useful shade
This shade, made by Canon is much better, a better fit and more sturdy than a generic shade sold by a famous NYC store. It is well worth the price, and does not interfere with the use of filters.
4 Stars A cure for circling the end of the lens with your hand!
Sometimes I like a bit of artistic sun flare but I was finding many times where I was trying to hold the camera and take a picture while shading the lens with one hand. Not a real comfortable position. The lens hood makes the lens bulkier and takes a second to put on but it is worth it in my opinion.
5 Stars Simple to use
This does what it is supposed to do. Make sure it can fit in your camera bag while it is still attached to the lens if that’s what you intend to do. It is not small and extra space in your bag is necessary.
4 Stars Almost perfect,
…if it wasn’t for the vignetting. Just be careful when using it.
Vignetting can be reduced through some fast post processing, although many photographers would rarher not do that.
The hood fits perfectly on the lens.
Using a hood makes you more noticeable…also an unwanted secondary effect to many photographers.
All in all, its a must buy: some vignette can be tolerated; but the flare can totally damage your pics.

4 Stars What a deal!
Maybe not the highest quality, but for the price you can’t go wrong. Batteries seem to last as long as the Canon battery. Charger works well in the house or the car. Some times you have to jiggle the battery to make sure it has made contact in the charger
1 Star Does NOT Fit NB-5L Battery for Canon SD850
Be careful with your purchase…some of these knock-off battery chargers by other sellers are reviewed as not fitting some of the batteries they claim to be compatible with. I trusted this one because of the good reviews, but it turns out that the battery charger, which was the sole reason for my purchase of this bundle, does not fit the Canon SD 850 IS camera battery (the NB-5L model). It’s possible that the battery size has changed slightly over time? Either way, this product is incorrectly listed as fitting my battery and I’d like to prevent other buyers from making the same mistake. I would have gladly paid more money than deal with the hassle of returning it now that I have a useless battery charger.
5 Stars Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, Awesome and Awesome
Works like charm for my Canon 700IS camera. This deal is too good to be true. I was ready to pay 17 bugs for just the alternative charger………………..2 batteries, lens cleaner and car charger are real good add on’s. So, if you need a new charger or batteries, just go for it……..work flawless
1 Star Didn’t fit Canon PowerShot SD 880 IS as advertised
This product arrived in a timely manner. Would have liked to have the multiple replacement batteries available. However, the battery charger did NOT work with the Canon PowerShot SD 880 IS.
5 Stars I know it may seem to good to be true….
I was skeptical at first, as Canon charges a lot for just the charger, and this package comes with extra batteries as well as the charger and other freebies. However, I figured spending a few bucks on this was worth the risk. I was incredibly surprised at how well everything worked. Not only does the charger charge my original Canon battery (its a tight fit, but no big deal), but the included batteries seem to work as well as the original Canon battery. So now you’ll have extra batteries! Definitely buy this package and be amazed before you blow a quarter of the cost of your entire camera on a replacement battery or battery charger!

The Precision Design ET-60 Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Dedicated lens hoods, such as the ET-60, are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. Compatible with the following Canon lenses: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Lenses; Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Lens

4 Stars Good product.
It fits my Canon 100-400mm IS lens perfectly. Does just what it should and a good value.
4 Stars Decent hood for the price
I haven’t had any problems with this hood so far. Attaches easily and is fairly sturdy.
1 Star Does not fit
I purchased 2 of these lens hoods one for a 55 -200 IS lens fits good but it does not fit on the 75-300 USM Is lens.
5 Stars High peformance/Low price.
This lens hood is one product that does not live up to the old axiom: You only get what you pay for..In this instance you truly get: High performance AND Low price… from a vendor with a name that that spells it all out: P r e c i s i o n D e s i g n….Frank
5 Stars No Problems with this
Not much to a lens hood and for the money you can’t beat this one. Fit’s like the canon but for under half the cost

5 Stars More than Adequate
Pro’s:
- Adequate construction (plastic)
- Matte finish inside the hood
- No vignetting on the 18-55 IS stock lens when viewed at 18
- Reverses for storage as expected
- Not insanely overpriced like Canon’s hoods
- Works fine with a 58mm Hoya HMC CP filter and lens cap
- Same expected benefits as any other hood
- Not evident as a knock-off product
Con’s:
- Felt rather than matte would be preferred inside the hood
- A bit snug on the fit. Not a significant concern.
Purchased my product through Camsdigital which was not a default vendor. They shipped the product the same day.
4 Stars improvment
Light, light, light everywhere! If you want to control scattered light from everywhere and let your lens just be focused on your subject, this is what you need. You’ll notice a improved image. I enjoy it.

3 Stars Just OK.
This fits fine, but I would have preferred a lens cover that was a little deeper and with a sturdier construction. I’ll use it till I can find another. Price was right though!
5 Stars Awesome
Well worth the money…especially with someone who is on a tight budget as myself but still loves photography.
4 Stars Does the job and then some!
I use this hood for my default Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens on my Rebel XSI. It does what it is supposed to do and then some:
Pros
-Blocks out light glare from the side
-Protects my lens from dust & scratches
-Serves as a nice grip for manually focusing the lens
Cons
-Not the greatest plastic construction. Could be a firmer plastic but I’m just being picky
